May 18 – Day 676

Joyce had a good day. Physical therapist came today and Joyce did well with her exercises. Speech also came and Joyce worked with her Dynavox. She has been coughing up a lot today. The nurse will come tomorrow to replace her feeding tube hopefully no issues. She slept well and had no issues. Getting better at pushing her self up out of her chair and undressing herself. It is not perfect but she moving forward and I tell her every time she does it how goo she is doing.

May 17 – Day 675

Joyce had a good day. After her morning caregiver Justina was with her and Joyce slept till about 1 pm. Justina did her exercises with her as she was doing her therapy of laying flat in the bed. She had a good night and had no issues all through the night.

May 16 Day 674

Joyce had a good day today. Physical therapy came today and she did very well. He did a good portion of exercises with Joyce lying down. Her care giver said she was up slept most of the morning but then was up when I came home. We did her sink stands it is a slow process but Joyce is trying every day. Her night was fine no issues and she kept her food down.

May 15 – Day 673

Joyce had a good weekend. Joyce had her therapists come and she is progressing nicely in speech and in physical therapy. She used her dynavox speech computer and wrote a message to Justina. Her nights are going very well with no issues to report. Her therapy fro laying her flat in bed to allow gravity to do its job I was a little apprehensive at first because I thought she would have a lot of coughing issues but she does great and does not have any saliva issues.

May 4- Day 632

Joyce had a good day. Her therapists came today but Joyce was very tired and partcipation was minimal. Joyce was glad to see her regular caregiver. Justina stayed with Joyce this afternoon. She satup and watched TV and did very well with that. Just have to get her routine the same whoever is with her is the key otherwise she doesnt know what to do with which caregiver. Joyce slept well and she had no issues throughout the night.

May 3- Day 631

Joyce had a good day. Joyce had a good day she had physical therapy today and she was little tired and not participating much. She slept most of the day and was a little under the weather. Joyce gets her normal caregiver tommorow so her mood shoud be up. She slept well and had no issues through the night.

May 2- Day 630

Joyce had a good day. Physical Therapy came today and she just did okay but not one of her best days. Started Joyce on her ice chips today. When I got home Joyce was coughing alot I think the ice chips were giving Joyce a difficult time when she swallowed some may got down into her lungs which caused her to cough alot. The more she uses the ice chips the stronger her muscles will direct that water down the right path. She had a good night she slept well with no issues after her coughing for a while last night.

May 1- Day 629

Joyce had a good weekened. We will be getting back her original caregiver which is great. I am having Joyce be more proactive in doing things, like unlocking her chair, turning lights on and off to get her use to doing things that develop coordination and muscle tone. She did all her exercises and was up in her mood and was happy to see Justina. Her nights were good and had no issues sleeping. She watched wizard of oz and the great and powerful oz she enjoyed these movies.

April 28 – Day 626

Joyce had a good day. Got Joyce up early and ready fro her trip to Chapel Hill to see her doctor. Joyce was great for the whole ride there and back she really enjoyed it. She had her swallow study first. The doctor said it was not as good as last time so she wants us to just stick with ice chips and not give her any other thickening foods. Her muscles are not letting it go the right way and she doesn’t want her to bring stuff down into her lungs which could lead to other problems such as pneumonia.
