Our beautiful and loving wife, mother, sibling, and friend was found unresponsive on August 8th, 2014. She suffered an anoxic brain injury. Joyce spent months in the hospital in Greenville, NC and Wilmington, NC. She was moved back home in December 2014. In the beginning, insurance paid for her to have 24 hour nursing care but then that was discontinued. She requires 24 hour care which includes providing medications, tube feedings, and water every few hours throughout the day. She cannot be left alone and needs to be transferred from her hospital bed to her chair where she spends most of her day. Our family has been paying out of pocket for her to have this care which is over $2000 a month. We will be doing fundraiser events throughout the year to raise money to pay for this care.
