April 6 – Day 3083

Joyce had a good day. Joyce slept most of the day and woke up around 6 and we watched some TV her favorite was on raiders of the lost ark. Her vitals were perfect today. They did suction her but not alot in her lungs they are clear. They removed the catheter and hopefully she will start again. They are applying the ointment from the woud care team so we will see how that goes.

April 5 – Day 3082

Joyce had a good day. Joyce slept most of the day and woke up about 630 pm and started to watch TV. She had some suctioning today but not to much came out. The doctor came and talked to me and he is on the same page as me it wants an absolute answer that everything is in place equipment nurses before he will discharge Joyce. They Joyce on bladder training because he said he wants her not be on a catheter when she leaves hospital.

April 4 – Day 3081

Joyce had a good day. She is completely off all her meds and just getting anitbiotics. Still doing her bladder training so she will not need a catheter. She had a good day slept when she could and was watching TV when I left for the evening. Everything is on getting scheduled for Tuesday to discharge her.

April 3 – Day 3080

Joyce had a good day. After getting all the meds out of her system she was awake most of the day. They suctioned her a couple times but she is doing good. The doctor said probably Tuesday or Wednesday she will be discharged if she continues to make progress. Friday her stiches will come out for her trach.

April 2 – Day 3079

Joyce had a good day. After last night Joyce was exhuasted and slept the entire day. She was in bad shape last night the ICU nurses did a wondeful job. The doctor was not so ppleaseant with the nurses he said that should of never happen it was texbook case of her trach not being properly tended too. Dont get me wrong the ICU nurses deal with trach but the doctor said they shoul;d be suctioning her 3 times a shift for the first 30 days. So what happen last night is she had a build up and it was blocking her airway.

April 1 – Day 3078

Joyce had a good day but her night had complications. Joyce slept some of the day but she was awake most of the day. It looked like she would be coming as soon as all supplies were delivered and in place. They turned down her trach oxygen so she was doing great when I left. Then I got a call about 830 pm. They told me they had to put Joyce back on the ventilator because they tried to suction her and must of freed up a mucus plug which cause her to lose oxygen.

March 31 – Day 3077

Joyce had another gentle day. Joyce slept most of the day. Joyce had a good night and slept well the nurses told me. Still breathing on her own with no ventalitor support. They were going to move her up to the 3rd floor, but since they had spare beds in the ICU they will keep Joyce in the ICU tonight. Hopefully tommorow we will be discussing discharge this week.

March 30 – Day 3076

Joyce had a gentle day. Joyce slept most of the day. Joyce was taken off the ventilator at 1130 this morning and the plan was to put her back on the venilator around 6pm. But she was doing so good he wants to let her breathe by herself hopefully she will make it all the way through the night.+

March 29 – Day 3076

Joyce had a gentle day. Joyce slept most of the day. Joyce was on pressue support which means she does all the breathing unless she can’t and then the ventalator helps. Joyce did well she did 8 hours and then they switched it over therapist said that was outstanding for her lungs to get stronger. No pain meds until they suction and she said she was in pain so they gave something then.

March 27 – Day 3074

Joyce had a busy day. Joyce slept most of the day. When I came in this morning no word of Joyces surgery. So I was about to call the doctor when the front desk said she is scheduled for 3:30 for her trach. But of course hospital clock meant 4:00 she was done in about an hour. They did give her some pain medication. She was awake when they changed over to the night nurse. Joyce is glad to have the inubation tube removed. We will see how she does tonight and tomorow.
